Dads’ Snooker Socials
Who are you?
- John and Chris – local dads and team captains at Kickabout CIC (a football group for dads at Standish Leisure Centre)
- Regularly attend and support dads' wellbeing through sport
- Noticed a gap in opportunities for dads to socialise and connect outside of sports
What’s your idea?
- Pilot three Dads’ Snooker Social evenings at Potters Bar in Standish
- Casual, friendly sessions for up to 12 dads (4 per table)
- Focused on connection, conversation, and building friendships – not competitive snooker
- A relaxed alternative to the pub with no cost or pressure
Why is it important?
- Dads often experience isolation and lack of peer support
- Existing groups (like toddler groups) often feel mum-focused
- These sessions provide space to talk, share, and feel supported
- A step toward building a more inclusive, supportive parenting community for dads
How do you know it’s needed?
- Spoken with multiple dads at Kickabout CIC who want more time to socialise after games
- Many feel they don’t have other dad friends or a place to open up
- Potters Bar is a local, community-friendly venue ideal for this kind of session
