Dads’ Snooker Socials
Who are you?
John and Chris – local dads and team captains at Kickabout CIC (a football group for dads at Standish Leisure Centre)
Regularly attend and support dads' wellbeing through sport
Noticed a gap in opportunities for dads to socialise and connect outside of sports
What’s your idea?
Pilot three Dads’ Snooker Social evenings at Potters Bar in Standish
Casual, friendly sessions for up to 12 dads (4 per table)
Focused on connection, conversation, and building friendships – not competitive snooker
A relaxed alternative to the pub with no cost or pressure
Why is it important?
Dads often experience isolation and lack of peer support
Existing groups (like toddler groups) often feel mum-focused
These sessions provide space to talk, share, and feel supported
A step toward building a more inclusive, supportive parenting community for dads
How do you know it’s needed?
Spoken with multiple dads at Kickabout CIC who want more time to socialise after games
Many feel they don’t have other dad friends or a place to open up
Potters Bar is a local, community-friendly venue ideal for this kind of session
