Successful May Pitchers: Share Your Progress!
As we gear up for another round of pitching excitement on Sun Sep 1st, we'd love to hear about your progress and see how your projects have blossomed since receiving funding.
Lunch and Networking: we provide the food (yes it’s Wigan so there is usually pie!), you enjoy and chat with local people about your communities.
All welcome: We would like to be an inclusive event and the venue is wheelchair-accessible. We will have activities for children running — if you are bringing children please let us know for catering numbers.
Guidelines for Pitching at GRoW:
Each pitcher has 5 minutes to make their presentation. The pitch, which should be added to the GRoW Forum and previously approved by a founder member of the team, needs to cover:
- Who you are
- Your idea
- Why the idea is important
- How you know its wanted and needed. Who will take part. How you know they will
- How much will it cost in total and how much you would like from GRoW (max £200 contribution) and who is covering other costs
- What you will spend the money on
- Whether there will be a charge for people to attend
- Any safety issues that you’ve needed to consider
- How you will keep this going
Once you have pitched, people who have been participating will be able to put forward questions.
After questions, each participant will vote for your pitch. There are 4 ways to vote.
- Agree to fully fund
- Partially fund
- Like the idea, but not ready
- Do not support the idea
Once all pitches have been heard, the totals agreed are added up and shared with the group. Projects are funded according to the votes. Another round may be necessary to explore how much to allocate to ideas that have been agreed to be partially funded.
If the total requested amounts to more than is in the pot (£1500) then the group decides together how to share it. The group does not need to allocate the full £1500 and can carry monies over to the next event.
Once agreed, pitchers invoice Grass Roots of Wigan for the monies and commit to return to the next event, or provide information for the next event about how the money was used and what happened or was created as a consequence.
We ask that pitchers only apply a maximum of twice per year, to keep the projects varied.
